History
The founders of Alt Entertainnment Inc. are the undefeated UWI DJ Contest champions and, arguably, the most popular DJs ever to come out of the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies. Creative concepts like "Carni Gras" and "The Beck’s Bum Tour” made BoomTribe events the most talked-about and imitated events in Barbados. This was accomplished using no mass marketing, relying only on cutting-edge email marketing and word of mouth.
However, due to the the low barriers to entry within the events promotion segment of the industry, several competitors entered the industry, creating an over-supply of our core theme party product and making it clear that to succeed in Barbados, we needed to think strategically to compete and survive.
At the beginning of 2002, we began the initial process of diversifying, during which time we invested tremendous resources into the research, planning and training required for our next phase of operations.
The company made its first major breakthrough with its new business strategy with the Roamin' television show, which rapidly became a massive hit among young people in Barbados and the most popular local television show in Barbados. This was due, in large part, to our integration of live text messaging and other Participation TV elements into the show. Following on the heels of this was the beta launch of BoomTribe.com and the launch of the BoomTribe Radio show, which have grown to become the most popular entertainment website in Barbados and the most listened- to show on Mix96.9 FM respectively.
When combined with our ongoing event activities, we believe we have successfully positioned ourselves to take advantage of opportunities within the dynamic Caribbean market place.
